I’m a huge fan of the show 19 Kids and Counting on TLC. In my opinion, Mrs. Duggar is a supermom, I’m amazed she can take care of all those children and still keep it together. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her yell, get frustrated, or completely lose control- all things that I’m guilty of on a daily basis with only two kids! How on earth does she do it?
As mother’s day is approaching, my thoughts go out to moms everywhere with awe and appreciation. Being a mother is one of the most fulfilling roles you can have, and I wouldn’t trade the job for the world. But I know that I wouldn’t have kept my sanity if I had 19 children. Mrs. Duggar got me thinking – when or how do you know you’re done having kids? Is it based on a feeling? Or is it planned- a mutual decision between you and your husband? And what happens when a “surprise” comes along?
I reached out to the Moms on our Facebook page the other day to find out, and got a tremendous response. Here are a few comments worth checking out:
Sassycoupondiva says, “I have 6 beautiful children and after the 6th one I told my hubby, no more kids until you’re ready to carry them for nine months and give birth!”
Lindsey M. says, “I always wanted 2 kids because I am an only child, but my husband wanted just one because he grew up with three siblings. After I had one though, I knew I was done.”
Sarah P. says, “I wanted a girl and my husband wanted a boy, so we each had one and now we are both happy!”
Amanda B. says, “We were very content with our two kids, and then number three arrived – I couldn’t be happier, but we are SO done now!”
Amanda S. says, “We have five so far. I hope we’re not done.”
