Go Green on Earth Day!

Family Fun & Activities, Holidays & Parties | April 12, 2016

Earth Day is April 22, so let’s plan to celebrate this wonderful planet we call home! The most important thing we can do to honor our world is to cultivate eco-friendly habits in our children that will last a lifetime. We have some suggestions on how to spend your Earth Day—and every day!

1. Organize a trash clean-up: Beautify your community by picking up trash around your neighborhood or in your town. It’s a great way to teach your children about the harmful effects of littering and why it’s important to treat the Earth with respect.

2. Eat green: Since it’s Earth Day, we think even your plates should go green! Make sure to seek out sustainable food and buy local food that day—ideally from a community farmers market. Also, make it a veggie-packed day!  For more details for green eating on Earth Day, visit KIWI Magazine Online.

3. Read about Mother Nature:  There are many children’s books that celebrate the Earth! You may have options in your home or local library, and we also have some excellent picks for you. If it’s a nice day, you could even read outside in nature! For more suggestions,, visit KIWI Magazine Online.

4. Adopt ways to make every day Earth Day: You could start to compost in your home, switch from plastic to glass storage containers, dry your clothes outside, take reusable bags on your shopping trips, and conserve energy by turning off the lights. There are so many ways to lessen your carbon footprint on a daily basis! Check out our other ways to go green.
